Benjamin Moore 2027 Color of the Year Webster Green Palette
Benjamin Moore named Webster Green (HC-130) its 2027 Color of the Year today, selecting an established shade from its Historical Color Collection rather than introducing a new formula, according to Galerie and ELLE Decor. The Benjamin Moore 2027 Color of the Year Webster Green pick leans on an archival formula, not a fresh one, a choice the brand ties directly to how people are shopping for color right now.
Vice president Andrea Magno says the shade suits "architectural situations" specifically. "It has depth, it has character, it has really good versatility, and plus the fact that it's from our historic collection, that gives it a little bit of a pedigree," she told Galerie.
Senior color marketing manager Hannah Yeo tells ELLE Decor that the team "intentionally chose a green that doesn't reminisce," despite the formula's age.
Webster Green follows Silhouette (AF-655), Benjamin Moore's 2026 Color of the Year, a deep brown with charcoal notes, per ELLE Decor. Green wasn't an isolated bet this cycle, either: Sherwin-Williams chose Celery, a light yellow-green, and Behr picked Grounded, an olive with brown undertones, as their own 2027 picks, the outlet reports. ELLE Decor frames the choice as the latest sign that green will show up across the year's paint forecasts.
Why Benjamin Moore picked an archival green for 2027

Magno says shoppers have been approaching color decisions more deliberately. "We saw people looking for a tempo that felt more intentional... and not so of the moment," she told Galerie. That context accompanied Benjamin Moore's selection of an established shade from the company's historical collection instead of a brand-new formula.
To find it, the color team traced how green has shown up in interiors across decades: jewel-toned greens from the 1920s and 30s, mint from the 1950s, and the sage, pine, and pewter tones common in homes today, according to Galerie. Magno says that review found green "consistently demonstrated remarkable staying power" compared with other color families, by her account of the company's internal research. "Green is a color family that's really able to defy trends in a way," she said.
Yeo tells ELLE Decor that 2027 planning conversations, which started last winter, kept circling back to how quickly design trends move now. The team pulled hand-drawn room illustrations from Benjamin Moore's archives and tracked green's recurring role across design movements: the earthy tones of Arts and Crafts interiors, Art Deco's emeralds and teals, and the moss and avocado greens that followed. Trade shows, industry presentations, and travel research reinforced the final call, per the outlet.
The goal, Yeo says, was landing on something that felt "new and exciting" while also delivering a color that "reassures and endures." Benjamin Moore describes Webster Green as striking that balance, pairing "reassuring stability" with "optimistic energy" in a way the brand says leaves rooms "distinctive, collected, and continually new," according to Galerie.
Benjamin Moore's 2027 color palette: where Webster Green fits

Webster Green doesn't stand alone. Benjamin Moore built an eight-color palette around it, drawn from a year of market research, per Galerie.
White Down serves as the palette's neutral. Magno describes it as "not a stark white; it has a little bit of cream, a little bit of depth, and some subtlety to it," adding that she thinks it will become one of many homeowners' favorite whites, per Galerie.
Two lighter shades round out the contrast end of the palette: Nelson Blue, a watery hue pulled from the brand's Williamsburg collection, and Wild Aster, a pink Galerie describes as carrying "an air of sophistication." Both details are attributed to Galerie.
The deeper end of the lineup leans toward earth tones. Antique Copper is a spicy terracotta, Durango is a deep olive, and Townsend Harbor Brown is a chocolate-meets-burgundy shade Benjamin Moore says carries particular atmospheric depth in a matte finish, according to Galerie. White Down and Shakespeare Tan are two of the documented colors in the eight-color palette, with Shakespeare Tan described as a complex ochre that almost shifts between gold and green undertones depending on the light.
Magno says the full palette, used indoors or outside, sets the past against the present for a look of depth, tranquility, and timelessness, per Galerie.
Within that lineup, Benjamin Moore's quoted guidance emphasizes architectural applications for Webster Green specifically, pointing to trim, millwork, and built-ins as the strongest fit rather than ruling out broader use.
Benjamin Moore's 2026 precedent: color trends beyond paint

Benjamin Moore extended its 2026 Color Trends announcement beyond paint with two licensed collections. Centered on Silhouette (AF-655), the 2026 Color of the Year, the company partnered with ceramics maker Farmhouse Pottery for a third consecutive year and with hardware brand Modern Matter on a solid brass line finished in Silhouette plus five additional Benjamin Moore-inspired colorways, according to a Benjamin Moore press release. The company said the success of its 2024 and 2025 collections demonstrated strong market demand and brand alignment, per the release.
Neither Galerie's nor ELLE Decor's coverage of Webster Green mentions a similar licensing extension for 2027. The 2026 partnerships stand as the clearest example so far of Benjamin Moore turning a yearly color pick into products beyond wall paint, per the press release.
What this announcement doesn't cover

Benjamin Moore is positioning Webster Green as an established, historically collected shade with enough presence for architectural details and enough relevance to anchor its 2027 palette. Yeo frames the honor plainly: "this is not a new shade, but it just feels particularly relevant in the way that people want to live today," she told ELLE Decor.
Color of the Year selections reflect Benjamin Moore's own market research, not independent testing of how a shade performs in any one room's lighting or finishes. The linked coverage doesn't include Webster Green's light reflectance value, undertone breakdown, or recommended sheen. Homeowners choosing the color for a specific surface should confirm those details through Benjamin Moore's official listing or a local retailer before buying a gallon.
