Paint your kitchen cabinets

Need a change? Brighten up your kitchen and give your cabinets a new look with a fresh coat of paint. In this tutorial, learn how to paint your kithcen cabinets a fast and efficient way.

You Will Need:
• A screwdriver
• Grease-cutting cleanser
• A sponge
• Wood putty
• A putty knife
• Sandpaper
• Masking tape
• Oil-based or acrylic latex paint
• A mini paint roller
• A full-sized paint roller
• A paintbrush
• An airless paint sprayer (optional) (optional)


Step 1: Remove drawers, doors, and hardware
Remove all of the drawers, cabinet doors, and hardware using a screwdriver.

Step 2: Clean surfaces with cleanser and sponge
Use grease-cutting cleanser and a sponge to gently, but thoroughly, clean the cabinets, drawers, and doors. Rinse the surfaces and let them dry.

Step 3: Fill in dents or divots with wood putty
Fill in any dents or divots in the doors and drawers using wood putty and a putty knife.

Step 4: Sand surfaces
Lightly scrub all of the surfaces with sandpaper.

Step 5: Mark surfaces that won't be painted
Use masking tape to cover all of the surfaces that you don't want painted.

Step 6: Paint cabinets
Paint the cabinets. Use a mini roller for tight spaces like the inside of the cabinet. Use a full-sized roller or a brush everywhere else.

Step 7: Let paint dry, then reattach
Allow the paint to dry completely. Reattach the hardware, and then remount the doors and drawers. Step back and admire your beautiful new kitchen cabinets.
